SIKLAB NG PAGASA: TYPHOON HAIYAN BENEFIT SHOW
"Siklab ng pagasa" is Tagalog for "spark of hope." In November 2013, when Typhoon Haiyan struck and devastated portions of Southeast Asia and particularly the Philippines, BUFSA held a benefit show to support existing humanitarian and relief efforts. Many student groups of Boston University and the surrounding area collaborated with us to create a memorable night filled with a variety of performances. Millions of people were affected and thousands of homes were destroyed, but Filipinos are a resilient people, and our spirit and hope is waterproof and stronger than any typhoon. All proceeds were donated to Red Cross International.

ROCK FOR HOMES
This event, also titled Kanta at Kalinga, was held to aid in the effort to build a village in the Philippines that would give homes to dozens of impoverished families through Gawad Kalinga. With talented singers and bands from all over Boston and the northeast, BUFSA provided a night of great music.

MUSIC SPEAKS
In January 2010, BUFSA teamed up with singer AJ Rafael to raise awareness about Autism, and start the nation-wide musical phenomenon known as Music Speaks. Music Speaks has an important mission, to encourage action that would improve the conditions of the lives and families that autism affects.
Music Speaks means utilizing the gifts of music and dance to inspire those fortunate enough to be born without autism to speak out for those who were, by being aware of their condition and taking action towards improving their living conditions and perhaps even uncovering the mystery behind its cause.

Annual Lecture Series

Each year, BUFSA hosts a Lecture Series where we invite Filipinxs who are prominent in their career fields to speak to our club and greater BU community.
